Eligibility Criteria

Exam Qualification Criteria

To be eligible for the Professional Engineer’s Qualification Exam, Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Engineer License: Hold an engineering license issued by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi.
  • Work Experience: Have at least three years of work experience registered in the Engineering Licensing System. 
  • Engineering Specialty: Currently be registered with the engineering specialty that is equivalent to the exam you wish to book, as listed below.
    • Civil Eng. - Construction Management
    • Structural Eng.
    • Civil Eng.
    • Civil Eng. - Soil Mechanics
    • Civil Eng. - Sustainability

Engineering License Upgrade Criteria

To be eligible for a category upgrade from Practicing Engineer to Specialized Engineer, you must meet the following conditions:

What is the Professional Qualification Exam? Arrow

This exam is mandatory for engineers seeking to upgrade their engineering license from a practicing engineer to a specialized Engineer.

The Structural exam consists of 30 questions to be completed within one hour. It covers a wide range of engineering topics related to the engineer’s practical experience. To excel in this exam, it’s essential to reference the following materials:

• Abu Dhabi International Building Code – ADIBC

• Structural Submission Manual - Private Villas
